About Me

By day I am a Business owner, Mother and wife, house cleaner, taxi driver and laundress, obtaining physical health through raw food nutrition; this being my personal challenge. Actually I love cooking and learning new things, I am an on & off raw Foodist to help me with my Systemic Lupus; however I do eat raw fish and sometimes raw dairy. I guess I would consider myself a "raw pescatarian" aside from the occasional raw goats milk / cheese once in a blue moon.

FRIDAY-
Started the day with granola and nutmilk.  Made a fresh batch of milk this am upon returning home from driving daughter to school. (soaked the nuts last night overnight) With the right equipment, I can get it done in under 5 minutes.  I like that.

Today was Sushi Day at Pier 46- so I always end up with morsels here and there to eat, and of course the only cooked item in sushi rolls is the rice (exception would be California rolls). Someone once said that Brown rice sushi rolls are good (and no doubt much healthier) and I've always remembered that... I'd like to try making it sometime, maybe at home first.

Home now at 4pm, I think I will grab an apple and a Synergy drink (raw Kombucha juice- I have yet to learn all about it) http://www.synergydrinks.com  but it's yummy and I know it's insanely more healthy than soda- which I never was a fan of anyways.
I haven't weighed myself lately- I'm not concerned about weight so much as I am getting toned up.  I know I'm not in shape cardio or muscle-wise, and I need to do something in that department soon.  I'm thinking about getting a video from Jillian on Biggest Loser... I'm sure she has some kick-my-ass video that yells at you or something.  ha. Do I need that?  Probably.    I have noticed that when I go to the gym (rare) I do VERY well when I listen to my ipod or bring my earpods to plug into the TV's on the treadmill.  it's astounding the difference it makes... kind of like Lamaze during childbirth;  a great distraction from the pain.
Last time I weighed myself, I was around 145 and I'm 5'8" and wear size .. uh, 8 pants.  Used to be six.  Six is good for me.. I've been told to not get any slimmer than that.   Hence the reason I don't weigh myself, it IS more about how the clothes fit and about how you FEEL inside that body.  It's a God-given body and I don't think we should be trashing it the way we do.

Off to my hair appointment to shower my sensitive scalp with burning chemicals that will likely infiltrate my bloodstream.  Ha.  Couldn't resist. Sometimes I think raw fooding simply fights off all the other crap we do to our bodies.

So I came home  wanting to make something new.  I bought a Butternut squash the other day, of course forgetting completely what I had planned to do with it, so I simply googled "raw food butternut" and chose a youtube video of someone making raw soup. I went for it and tried it, following along like the proverbial wife in the kitchen doing exactly as the TV says, step by step, and thank God I had all the ingredients cuz I would have been hosed.  (and no, they didn't list all the ingredients at the beginning.  Annoying!)  The husband videotaper was flapping the whole time the wife was trying to actually be a good Youtube chef.  Anyway, enough of that.  The soup is yummy and savory, I went easy on the spices since it's easier to add more rather than take away what you've already dumped in....  That's always fun...  So, my vitamix overheated and stopped (just a safety thing-  it will be fine in a minute) but it's perfect.  I will add more spices next time and probably won't change anything else!
Here's the annoying youtube link in case anyone feels like watching what NOT to do...

And below is the pic of finished product (makes like 4 times this amount)

Gotta run!  Headed to 15c to hang with my hubby and friends!
